Knock 'Em Out
Lonely slash liberated, I return with copious amounts of art to gaze upon.

This was initially a 3D texture for my production class wherein the silly dentist was reading a dirty magazine called a 'Playdoctor' being one of the gags in the short. I wanted a vintage 'Playboy' look to the magazine cos those were probably the best there were, plus all of the illustrators that provided cartoons inside the magazine back then had amazing work. You can take a look at some of the final storyboards to get an idea of how it was planned out. 'Alligator and the Dentist' storyboards.

I am fascinated by the chav-culture in Europe thus explaining why I had to draw 'The Queen of Chavs.' If you don't know what a 'chav' is, then make sure to google it, once you're done browsing this post. I think its great.

A commissioned piece for my high school...sweet Valley High...home of the mighty falcons...good times...good times. I was paid to design their whole program for their 'Star Search' show which was a total hit. My brother was in charge of it following my footsteps in Student Council and suggested that I design it like I had done prior years. Everyone seemed to love it so I was really happy about that.

Some character designs for different things. Can you spot Buster Bunny?

My first chavette drawing. I rather like it.

Some drawings of myself. I like the first one cos it looks like I'm one of those depressed clowns of sorts.

Inspired by the Japanese duo, 'Capsule' -- their music is awesome and their style is cute, I can see how the 'Pizzicato 5' influenced their work. Anyone know these Japanese artists? Take a look at Capsule's 'Tokyo Smiling', it's like the cutest video I've ever seen and the music is really catchy!

I've been drawing a bunch of girls with pantyhose up to their ribs and heres a little drawing to show how thats been coming along. Heres a rather worried Bindi drawing for Emmy I was meant to finish along time ago, I'll make a new one once I am officially done with school.

It was [info]buttfacemakani's twentieth birthday just this past weekend and I did a couple of doodles of her lovely feline character; Makani. Rånny is so ghetto trying to climb her back and failing miserably at it. I thought it was cute. Hope you had a great one!

Well, that's it for now. I have many, many things to do. haha. I have to finish my demo reel, make it all nice and sexy; then I was just recently commissioned to design a logo and cute asian character for a laundry mat service. lol. Then, I was asked by my pal, Jared Deal, (an amazing artist residing in New York) to be a part of an art show he will be curating. The theme for the show is 'Shady Characters' and I am still deliberating whether I would have the necessary time to finish a traditional piece that demonstrates character design. If I do, I am hoping someone would fall in love with the piece and buy it. I have loads of drawings on paper too, but I'am saving those for another project I'll post about next time. Adieu!

Your work is so full of character. One day i hope you'll do a full illustration and send it to me so i can hang it on my wall and gaze at it every three seconds.

I love how you overlayed the patterns on the pin up character's outfit.

I can do prints. I'll send you one on your birthday or something, that magazine one looks really nice printed on high glossy paper. Good thing my characters have character cos I would like to work as a character designer. lol. Or a magazine illustrator that features pop culture stuff, music, fashion, trends, etc. :)

RANNNYYY!! Ohh my word. Your art is just better ever time I see it
It's so fantastic, i'm serious. I've been reading Katie Rice and John K's blogs alot lately, but you know, I prefer your art over theirs any day.

AND I LOVE CAPSULE! I like the Plus-tech Squeeze Box remix of "Candy Cutie" way better then the original, though! It's all cute and cowgirly!

Oh and the drawing of Bindi ;__; It's like the cutest anthro Bindi EVER. aiaoisdurehtrueghn!!

Binz-ZEE! I am so glad you like Capsule too! Their whole style is inspirational, I think. I like musicians that spark inspiration, and they're one of them. Know of Fantastic Plastic Machine? He's ace C: Although, I am afraid to say that I don't have songs by Capsule--they're pretty hard to find. If you happen to have the original 'Tokyo Smiling' would you be a pal and upload it for me? This remix is hilarious! Western/Cowboy/Japanese/Funny sounds infused into one remix, amazing.

Oh and sorry about these late bindi gifts, I've just been bombarded with so many things as of late and well, I don't have as much time as I did before to hang out online. Once I graduate and start working, I'll certainly have more time for online hilarity. Trust me, plus more drawings of my favorite friends' character's. The joy of it all!

Oh yes, John K and Katie's blogs are really popular in the blogging world. I actually have had a blog for a while now that I update from time to time and the artists on there have been treating me really nice. You should try getting a blog too so you can start early if you want to be in the animation industry, the blogging world its booming with great talent and professionals!

LOL. You see, about the Chavettes and Chavs and whatnot, theres this one gal named Jentina who was a white rapper in the UK. She wasn't well liked cos most English people aren't too keen on the chav lifestyle and whatnot and she was given the title of 'Queen of the Chavs' at one point, I believe. Her music was pretty cool, too (well in my opinion) haha. She would wear large hoop earings, lots of bling, and her first single was called 'Bad Ass Strippa' which 'made her' an instant bad ass, right? haha. oh golly.

In America, chavs is the equivalent to white trash. lol. Oh well, I just did my research and seemed to enjoy reading how hated that populous was--I mean, they're people too! Mean English folks. D:

I am glad you spotted Buster, he's one of my favorite Tiny Toon characters, actually all of them are. haha. Congrats-to-the-lations on your McGraduation, fella! Go Nick, Go Nick! It's your birthday, It's your birthday! :')

Ah, it sounds like things are going swell for you, Ranny! The art show sounds really exciting, would it take place in New York? Ouhh I dearly wish I could go ;; Ah well, I'm sure you'll have many more in the future ohoho~

Aww I love how you did the vintage Playdoctor mag, with the oldie colors...her hair is gorgeous with the unexpected colors~ Haha the storyboard looks fantastic, I especially like how it switches between silhouettes and all :D Thanks for sharing the loads of drawings with alla us! I like the hair on the second human-Ranny :D I always have the toughest time trying to think up male hairstyles, I suppose I need to practice more...The lineless pantyhoseribgirl is so cleaaan ahh it looks so sharp ;0

Why thank you, Msharoonie, yes, the show would be in New York, if I get a piece done I would have to mail it in--don't know if he wants it framed already though, I need to ask. Yeah, and I don't think I'll be able to go either! Its too far away, unless he would pay for my trip! haha. I'll certainly post what I did though, I got some rough ideas and I am still contemplating on the medium I want to use since it has to be traditional.

Oh, why thank you, I used to style my hair like that in high school, for the second pix. lol. Now its combed down, no fuss, no muss oh, and it used to be orangey. haha. GOOD TIMES.

Nice hearing from you again! Be good now! :]

I love the idea of the dentist and the alligator... Playdoctor! XDDD HAHA

I've never heard the word 'chav' but its definition makes sense to me! XD; There are quite some of those around. D: They mostly like to listen to R'n'B and Hip Hop if I'm not mistaken. o-o

Wow, a show in NYC? That's awesome! Too bad it's so far away from Germany. D: Do you have any shows elsewhere? London, maybe? XDDDD That would be easier for me to reach *lol*. Your characters are always so unique @_@ I love the afro guy (ooooh, goggles 8D) and the drawings of yourself! So cute. X) ♥

Aw, thanks Leela, the whole 'Alligator and the Dentist' short was for my 3D production class I had at school this past Spring quarter which I just finished last week. We had to go through the intensive process of creating a short, from pitching an idea, to doing rough storyboards, from that we would assign a character designer (which was me) and then did final story boards (which I also did)--I was basically in charge of doing everything in 2D. All the drawings; concept work, storyboards, etc, etc so we can present a 'Production Bible' that looks professional in the end. I had to also work on the 'PB' making the DVD cover and working on the Opening and Ending credits to the short. Now, keep in mind, we only have 11 weeks to finish a whole animated short and I don't think it gives us the necessary time to finish something amazing. I could post the 3D short finished, but its not the best...it had several flaws--one being the lighting, the scenes were rendered out in different lighting and the editing and continuity was off, too. So, pooey. Eventually, the Dentist gets eaten by the Alligator and thats all we need to know, right? lol.

Oh, and yes, chavs do tend to listen to R'n'B and Hip Hop. I am not a big fan of those genres, maybe I listened to a lot of it back when I was 14, but I've moved on. haha.

Aww, well atleast you have the Soccer World Cup in your country. I wouldn't be able to make it to the show either if I tried! I don't have time, nor the money I'm afraid. D: Did I ramble too much? Oh my.

lol. Well, to be honest, I got inspired by 'Jentina' a rapper from the UK. It's more the style she had that allured me and not the chav culture in general--but its certainly interesting. Perhaps I won't label them as 'chavette' drawings cos I have a few more I'm working on. :O

I always look forward to these so much, you have an incredible style. It's definitely all your own.

I LOVE that you drew Buster Bunny, you don't have any idea how in love I was with that show when I was younger.

I like your self-portraits also, I like your hair in the second one, does it really look like that?

I find your obsessions with Chavs slightly bizzare, but you captured them perfectly. I recognized them immediatly.

Also, I still have the art you sent me for Christmas on my desk, I look at it all the time everyday, I can't get over how beauitful and amazing it is.
