Hey guys! For those that placed a commission order and I haven't completed your icon, I just want you to know that I've been busy finishing up character designs for a job I've been doing since February. I didn't realize the workload was going to be hectic and thought I'd be able to do the commissions and the job at the same time at ease, but I wasn't able to. I'm done with the character designs and I will resume where I left off so this is just to notify where and what I've been doing. I hope you all understand. Thank you!

Hey everyone! I am open for icon commissions in hopes to save up and buy a new wacom tablet. The tablet I had all throughout college gave up on me during the holidays and I am quite desperate for a new one. The program I will be using for these commissions is Adobe Illustrator and you'll get a headshot of your character with the expression of your choice--you can actually take the image and make a badge or print it on a shirt since it's an illustrator file which is even better. (If you happen to want your character for a shirt, shoot an e-mail for pricing) All characters welcomed--the price for the icon commissions are 13$ each. You can either e-mail me a description of your character/drawings to randerzoid@sbcglobal.net or just post a comment here. I will be only accepting paypal for payment.

Here are larger samples of these illustrations. <lj:music>The Tough Alliance - Always Find a Way</lj:music>

The Tough Alliance: TTA have been around since 2003 and I just recently discovered them earlier this year. Their music is some of the most unique styles of pop I've ever listened to. Having released several EP's and two full albums already, I can definitely hear an ocean theme running through their tracks. The way they use their own voices to create catchy beats to how they sing their lyrics almost makes them sound indifferent and childish, but that's the whole point. TTA quickly became one of my favorite artists this year and I will anxiously await all of their upcoming projects for next year. I especially loved listening to their music in my car while driving next to the beach during the summer--it was delightfully euphoric.

The Tough Alliance - Silly Crimes
The Tough Alliance - Holiday
The Tough Alliance - Koka-Kola Veins

'Silly Crimes' was a part of TTA's summer EP: 'New Waves'. I found myself being reminiscent of my summer excursions with friends and the ones in store for the upcoming years. The pigeon sounds in the song work so well--it's amazing. 'Holiday' was the first single released on their first EP and 'Koka-Kola Veins' is from their first album, 'The New School'. All of these songs were singles in Sweden (which received critical acclaim) and they just recently released an ambient album through their own music label called, 'Escaping Your Ambitions', which takes you through legs of an underwater adventure.

    <lj:music>Cornelius - Breezin'</lj:music>

I have made a sacrifice for all of Americans, folks. Yesterday while I served my Jury Duty service, Judge Johnson pulled out the sympathy card and showed us articles of fallen American soldiers from the current war situation. He claimed that if they sacrificed their lives for our safety, then we should at least sacrifice some of our time to serve as jurors to make the judicial court system work. I was really interested--being my first time summoned, but even though he made that statement, many came up with ridiculous excuses to leave the court room; I will always remember you Mr. Nickel--explosive diarrhea will guarantee an automatic excuse, always. Not. Judge Johnson was quite stern and didn't allow anyone to leave, well except for students who had finals and those who had flights to 'London', 'New York', and 'San Francisco'. The plaintiff's lawyer kept quoting President Truman's: "The Buck Stops Here" and well, he was right. In the end, I was excused from being part of the jury and I felt the defendant's lawyer made a good decision because I was partial to the other side once I had heard the case--I don't think I can reveal this personal drama to anyone, so I'll keep quiet--I personally felt that this case should've been arbitrary. The fools.

All day long while I waited to get randomly chosen to participate in a court case, I kept drawing everything that piqued my interest. There were too many interesting looking people at once and I wanted to draw a lot of them (especially) in the court room--too bad I couldn't--because there was a lot of really fun looking people in there. A lot of the women's suits looked quite fashionable and so did this lovely decorative tree inside the court house on the 5th floor.

This asian man wasn't articulate to go forth with the case, so after answering several questions, he was excused. He left with a big grin on his face. Silly man.

This rail thin asian girl caught my eye, she looked like a really nice woman. I drew her quickly while she was cajoling with her partners. I drew that lady from the back while I was waiting to randomly be called up, I liked the way she was standing.

This girl had 'MTV Laguna Beach' written all over her face, but I liked her style and her boots really caught my eye. They were some really foldy type of boots that went all the way up to her knees. She had a red orange sweater, white shirt underneath, and blue jeans. She was always on the phone.

This was my first attempt drawing her along with this tall mans profile.

Here she is playing with her hair. She was eventually excused because she was flying to New York this Sunday and the case was to last 5 days. Too bad Judge Johnson scheduled her to return in February. Well, there was a bunch of awesome people that I quickly sketched but didn't quite finish, I remember their faces, body types, and clothes that they were wearing, so hopefully I can do some memory sketches tonight. For those that are interested, these were all drawn in black pen, ball point pen, and I used a brush pen and a prisma marker to colour around some of these drawings. Also, thank you for the birthday wishes, ilu all.

Now take a look at some of my new art! I missed posting my art on livejournal.

Elephants are a joy to draw--I had gone to study them at the San Diego Zoo earlier this year and now, well, I can adorn them with cirkus gear for a more flamboyant look, but seriously, they're cute animals! This illo was coloured with Tria Markers.

Here is a rather depressed cirkus elephant--because it's hard being fabulous. I like the shapes in this drawing.

Rånny, Msh, and some girl head drawing. I was supposed to ink and colour that Msh drawing for Kai-Oh's birthday, but I never got the chance to finish it. I am so sorry, I'll finish another one soon.

The good ol' Rångamsh gang. It seems as though we've been so busy with our personal lives there is little time for them, but here they are together again, being cute and stylish as always.

I really enjoy studying fashion trends through years. The 1960's had some wonderful designs that helped inspire me to draw this girl in a winter coat. I tried to modernize to make her appear more like a girl that would appear in a FRUiTS magazine in that time. haha.

This is another 1960's inspired dress and a girl enjoying a glass of champagne. I think I am going to continue working on this design, I quite like it, lets see where I can take it.

A preliminary sketch of a couple with winter clothes. Can you tell I enjoy drawing winter clothes?

Here is another one with the same concept and pose, just different patterns in clothing, etc.

Man, everyone is talking about the Wii and what not, I personally don't care about games anymore but I do enjoy drawing Mario and company occasionally. Well, I have to be honest, the only Wii game that I am anxiously awaiting is Smash Bros. Brawl--I can't get enough of those fighting games!

I busted out my ghetto overused brush pens for these. I've been quite busy with life at the moment with art as a career, but I wanted to start posting again by recommending Cat5 who just recently released a new single from their debut album in Sweden. I am very impressed by their style of music and beats these two girls have produced for their album. The instrumentals are upbeat and provoke unwanted dancing while the lyrics are fun and catchy to sing along to-sometimes you can't help it, ha. Here are three of their songs from their album 'Cat5' which was released earlier this year.

Cat5 - Stretch and Bend
Cat5 - Battle
Cat5 - I Want You

These three songs demonstrate their unique sound as a whole. My mom personally loves 'I Want You', hahaha, because of the 'Como Estas' part-yeah, my mom is pretty cool. Anyways, I hope you all like Cat5! Also, I can't believe, yet again, that the holiday season has arrived;Office Depot, don't let me down this year with my ritual card printing services. At least, I'll always have poignant holiday specials.

Why yes, yes it can! While they sample original sounds using their keytars and other electronic instruments in their music, the lead vocalist projects their lyrics using this amazing androgynous voice! Oh yes, my friends, androgyny prevails all! It's great music for the summer and I am exposing them to you because I simply cannot stop listening to them and now, you won't either.

The Similou - Play With Us
The Similou - All This Love
The Similou - Ladykillers
BONUS:The Similou - Ladykillers (Andreas Tilliander Remix)

Maybe I am being rather too observant, but...there is a peculiar sound in 'Play With Us' that keeps reminding me of those Donkey Kong Country games for the SNES. Does anyone remember when Diddy (the smaller chimp) would get hurt by the 'baddies' and then scurry off to god knows where--but that one scream that he does, this song totally samples that sound! Am I right? haha. I've uploaded all of the songs they've released as singles (all of which I LOVE), but I think their whole album is fantastic.

It was just released this year and I think it was a bold attempt on something unique. The track titles and overall sound on each track help conjure a lot of fun imagery. I feel as though it would've been great to hear this type of music on lets say: 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' or perhaps even a really silly animated cartoon because it sounds well, animated! Nevertheless, the entire album (which transitions from one song/adventure to the next) retains a magical charm that will leave you feeling euphoric!

Toy - Valley Cars
Toy - Rabbit Pushing Mower
Toy - Grass Beatbox

'Valley Cars' is simply my favorite. I like the kazoo sound in the beginning (I think it's a kazoo--perhaps its another musical toy instrument, not sure) but I think this song will help you understand the imaginative quality that this album embodies. Let me know what you think about this recommendation--oh! I'll be going to my local art store soon and I need to stock up on supplies, if anybody uses some specific brand (you use and love) and would like to suggest to me, please do so cos I'm really looking for top notch stuff.
Don't you just love it when time passes by really fast? Everything keeps reminding me of the years that have gone by, never to be relived again and the recollection of countless experiences that have mold me into the person I am today. This past weekend, my neighborhood was in a really festive mood once we found out that their was going to be a carnival right across our street. I was excited too--not because of the copious amounts of vomit inducing rides, but because I enjoy staring at all the little lights that adorn the attractions at night. Just looking at the ferris wheel spin; with it's pre-adjusted, light-flashing apparatus and the monotony of screams that fill the night skies rekindled my childhood jaunts to them. I simply look out the door and and I am confronted by a menagerie of activity. The cool dusk breeze blows the aroma of cotton candy, popcorn, and other carnival favorites and everything was adjacent from me;

The magical festivities this weekend helped me recall the time I met the three headed man who was barred inside a decorated bungalow promoting this fine anomaly. With fear and wonder in my eye, I entered the rather tawdry box and came across a creature with an abnormally large body and two plastic heads slapped next to it's real head. Oh, three headed man, how you betrayed me!

This brother and sister duo from Sweden claim that their music is pop; pop adorned with dark electro rhythms and shrill vocals quite similar to that of Björk. Their work standout from other electropop music because they make it sound so cool. They make their music appeal to many, by utilizing fresh new synth, deep bass, beats. They break so many musical barriers that its quite impossible to lump them into one genre.
Ranny Recommends: The Presets + Capsule

The Presets: Indie music is something that never really piqued my interest, because when I think 'Indie' I associate it with words such as: emo, scene, self-mutilation, and myspace. But, when an eccentric duo takes indie and meshes different electronic sounds into it, then we have brilliance. They just released their first album this year entitled 'Beams' which received critical acclaim for their exceptional electronic/rock/trip-hop sound. Native to Australia, these two blokes promote their music through use of style, sound, and engaging performances. Their album is ingenious and their songs induce impulsive toe-tapping under any occasion.

The Presets - Down Down Down
The Presets - I Go Hard, I Go Home
The Presets - Are You The One?

My favorite song by The Presets has to be 'Down Down Down'. Influenced by genres such as bossa nova, lounge, and french pop--Capsule embodies a really cute and appealing style and sound unlike any other. Albeit, I have no idea what their lyrics translate to, I still find their music enjoyable, catchy, and it'll make you feel happy without being inebriated. I am particularly fond of their songs inspired by music that hipsters in the 60's used to listen to and The Pizzicato 5.

Capsule - Robot Disco
Capsule - CrazEEE Skyhopper
Capsule - Beautiful Hour
Capsule - Odekake GO! Heres a rather worried Bindi drawing for Emmy I was meant to finish along time ago, I'll make a new one once I am officially done with school.

It was buttfacemakani's twentieth birthday just this past weekend and I did a couple of doodles of her lovely feline character; Makani. Rånny is so ghetto trying to climb her back and failing miserably at it. I thought it was cute. Hope you had a great one!

Well, that's it for now. I have many, many things to do. haha. I have to finish my demo reel, make it all nice and sexy; then I was just recently commissioned to design a logo and cute asian character for a laundry mat service. lol. Then, I was asked by my pal, Jared Deal, (an amazing artist residing in New York) to be a part of an art show he will be curating. The theme for the show is 'Shady Characters' and I am still deliberating whether I would have the necessary time to finish a traditional piece that demonstrates character design. If I do, I am hoping someone would fall in love with the piece and buy it. I have loads of drawings on paper too, but I'am saving those for another project I'll post about next time. Adieu!

I've been listening to them for a while now and think they're amazing. They bring so many fresh elements to music and in a sense, seem to almost create a genre of their own. Some of my favorite songs evoke beautiful, visual images that inspire me and I enjoy music that encourages creativity while still maintaining an appealing and rare sound. Furthermore, their songs are conveyed with much thought as they are concise with the given track title. This is certainly a group you should all be willing to hear.

Goldfrapp - Hairy Trees
Goldfrapp - Ride A White Horse
Goldfrapp - Slide In
Goldfrapp - Koko

'Hairy Trees' is a prime example of how Goldfrapp exemplifies a unique sound to encapsulate the idiom within the track title. Hear it for yourselves and hopefully you'll understand how amazing their music really is. Let me know if you happen to enjoy any of these tracks, too! Its always great to read opinions. Speaking of great --

The amazing, conga_chili sent me this beautiful watercolour illustration of a fox inspired by her surroundings while traversing through Paris.
Wow. I've been alarmingly absent for quite sometime now only to discover that there is life after the internet. No--I actually decided to take a rather brief hiatus from online territory to set my career priorities straight. My journal has received a slammin' new makeover to reveal a new cool blue (FRESH) façade as opposed to the insipidness of my last one. I also have new drawings to share and stories to tell--music too! One things for sure, it's going to be one long, hot summer and I am ready to rip it a new ass.

Cute little mofo.

I had these awesome jelly beans I found on the ground...or at least I thought they were jelly beans. It might have been a drug, masqueraded as a colourful Easter treat since it had me feeling, well, happy. I'll blame it on the holiday cheer, how could someone not feel great knowing a fat bunny lays eggs on this very special day? Oh, I Guess We'll never know. I ended up scanning some drawings to ease that rather noxious feeling I once felt earlier in the day. <lj:music>Girls Aloud - See The Day</lj:music>

Well, after spending my whole Spring Break watching movies, catching sun rays, and drinking gallons of water, one could only imagine the insanity unleashed with each passing minute. My brain fried and I couldn't help but go to the bathroom every thirty minutes or so, but it didn't stop there, my friends, I'll tell you what else I did. I watched 'RENT' and gorged myself on curry kabobs and horse tranquilizers. How adorable is that? Nothing says "fun" quite like 'Angel' the AIDS-ridden drag queen dancin' away to her death and Indian cuisine under the influence of life-threatening sedatives. Oh, the situational irony! (Well, I guess her death was inevitable and quite obvious; the fool!).

Also, during my action packed Spring Break, while on the streets, I managed to befriend a four-hundred pound Italian man who tried to sell me a 'CRUNCH' chocolate bar so that he could get something to eat. Go figure. I told the man that I hated chocolate and he insisted, 'Please, young sir', he said, as his face melted in the sun. I ended up opening my car again and grabbing a chunk of change for what he insisted me calling him, Farbonzo. As I gave him the change, he quickly handed me the chocolate bar and I paused his action and told him that I bought it for him so he can eat it. He looked up at me and said, in a tired and mumbly voice, 'Mmmf, Gaaawwddd Blisssss Yuuuuuu, Mmmmmf.' Off he went with his chocolate 'CRUNCH' bar in his mouth and heading towards the local 'Jack In The Box' to eat his well deserved meal after that labor intensive encounter with me. God Bless You, Farbonzo, wherever you are. God bless your greasy, yet, golden, heart.

I ended up deconstructing Lauren Collins face and studying her features while they aired a new episode of 'Degrassi: The Next Generation' this Friday where she had a lesbian love affair with her friend Alex. I love her stubby nose, sullen eye look, and drawing with a pen. Its great.

More pen drawings of this weird looking woman at a life drawing session. She had an interesting face that I couldn't quite capture right, plus she literally bent her ass to me when we were drawing her. I think I turned red.

Just a bunch of pen and pencil doodles. Some are rånny doodles for my short, others are just inspired by people I see on the streets or on T.V, etc, etc. Try to find Angel from 'Rent' in my doodles!

Dentist character design for my studio class. I am always put in charge of character design, which is quite nice since I would like to do that as a living. The team decided to choose another design from an acquaintance, but to have it mesh with my design; this really short, dopey looking dentist, which contrasted very well juxtaposed to the giant Alligator.

A concept drawing for a scene in the short. Alligator visits his Dentist, Dentist accidentally gets eaten by Alligator. lolol. How original. Its actually comes from a poem written years ago.

Pen drawing of the diabetes-fat Alligator. Everyone loved my design so we stuck to it.

Some colour samples of the characters. These characters will be modeled in 3D, so there's lots to be accomplished. I am nearing graduation soon, thus explaining my lengthy absence. I may just end up deleting the whole journal if I can't update it. Ah, we'll see my good friends, we'll see. Oh, who am I kidding. I guess thats my belated April Fools joke for all of you. I fail miserably. Oh, and I also joke about the horse tranquilizers. Did any of you fall for that? Come hither! haha.

Here are a bunch of ball point pen drawings. I will be posting my advances as I gradually continue to go visit my mammalian friends, with realistic and cartoony drawing studies. Well thats it folks, I'll end this post by saying that I really enjoyed this years winter Olympics. I always enjoy any type of Olympics and I am excited about Beijing 08' and Vancouver 10'. I definitely plan to attend the Winter olympics in 2010 and London 2012. Oh, and on Monday, I went to a beautiful nursery. Gardening is really, really interesting and my baby organic lettuce, tomatoes, and radishes are doing dandy!

    <lj:music>Fantastic Plastic Machine - Beautiful Days</lj:music>

This morning I turned the shower on without realizing the head was tilted just enough to send a blast of cold water at my fully clothed body, soaking the rest of the bathroom in the process. I'm extremely frustrated today, but I refuse to believe it has anything to do with the minor significance of this date:

Valentine's Day.

I've never been one to refute it's purpose due to the fact that I've been perpetually single since the beginning of time...(well, excluding the multiple high school dates and one blind date in which I ended up dating a midget, lesbian, gnome girl that kept buying me a lot of treats and my movie ticket entrance to some mediocre movie that I can't even remember [whoa, run-on]) rather, there are fond childhood memories linked to this day; such as the time I won "best valentine holder" (see also: a shoebox scattered with red hearts and heaps of silver glitter) in the second grade. Or the year the lovely girl I had a crush on wrote "you're cute" in my Lion King valentine.

Indeed, these poignant recollections stored away in my long term memory base are what truly makes my February the 14th, every year, special. Well, that is, until I find the right individual of course. In the meantime, I have plenty of other things to keep me busy, like my education, art, and now, my newly discovered love for gardening and organic food.

Now I'd best be off before the liquor store closes. Happy Valentines, to all of you, all my wonderful, sexy, livejournal friends. lolz.
